A Message from Interim CEO Larissa Bowman

As you might be aware, our former CEO Mark Scheibe recently accepted a leadership role at Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative. We're grateful for his years of service to Heartland and wish him and his family the very best in this next chapter.
The Heartland REC Board of Directors has appointed me to serve as Interim CEO while the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association conducts a national search for our next permanent CEO. This process is expected to take four to six months, and I'll be serving as Interim CEO throughout.

I've been Director of Finance here at Heartland for three and a half years, and it has been some of the most meaningful work of my career. Here's why: what this cooperative does matters!
We're not simply running a business — we’re serving 8,400 member-owners across 12 counties in Southeast Kansas and strengthening the communities we’re part of. That's our “why”, and it isn't changing.
Here’s what I want you to know as a member:

- Your priorities remain our priorities — safe, reliable, affordable power. This is a change in leadership, not in direction.
- Your service continues without interruption. Our crews, our operations, and our day-to-day work will go forward exactly as planned.

A title doesn't automatically earn trust. I intend to earn yours the same way I always have — by showing up, listening, and doing right by the people I work alongside and the members we serve.

Practice Farm Safety this Season
|
|
|
Farm season means sharing the road with large farm equipment and an increase in slow-moving machinery on our local roads. Share the road with care. Farmers are just trying to get to and from their jobs, too.

- Slow down and stay alert
Farm machinery often moves at slower speeds than regular traffic.
- Be patient
Passing may not be safe or legal in many situations.
- Avoid distractions
Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.
